Boycotts
Boycott is a peaceful protest in which people refuse to buy or use certain goods. In the South in Montgomery a bus boycott was started for political and social protest lasting 381 days, Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat, through this it created a spark to help desegregation.
Sit-ins
Sit-ins is protesting in a peaceful manner by sitting down in a public place and refusing to move there by causing business to lose customers. February 1, 1960 in Greensboro, North Carolina at Woolsworth's Diner. In July 25, 1960 the first blacks ate at the restaurants. This created desegregation in businesses making a good movement in the civil rights movement.
Civil Disobedience
Civil Disobedience is a nonviolently to obey a law that the protesters considers to be unjust. The Freedom Rider was a civil rights activist who rode in the wrong spots on segregated buses, the goal for this was to put pressure on people who refused, this put a lot of pressure on the federal government to enforce the Supreme Court to create desegregation rules for all buses.
Marches
Marches is a protest that often involves large numbers people that walk to 2 designated points for political reasons that are controversial. The March on Washington was one main march during civil rights movements, the purpose of the march was to spur a passage for a civil rights bill. The Freedom Summer was a campaign to protest to let the blacks vote, but they were stopped by groups and threatened to be killed. This led to the voting rights act which allowed blacks to vote.
Violent
Violent is a very different way to protest, by doing so any means necessary is used to promote Black Power and black nationalism by taking up arms. Riots spread across the country, all the way from Newark, New Jersey to Los Angeles, California. Over 100 cities experienced violent protest, unfulfilled expectation were raised by the civil rights movement. through all this desegregation was nearing.
I think that boycotting worked the best throughout the desegregation process. I believe this because it was the most calm and it was easy to get large amounts of people to do the same thing.
